Delegate Correctly

Delegating tasks isn’t a magic pill that will solve all your problems. But it can help prevent burnout, cope with procrastination or minimize the stress. It works. But only if you do it accurately. You should:

  • Know what to delegate.
  • Play to your employees’ strengths and goals.
  • Define the desired outcome.
  • Provide the right resources and level of authority.
  • Establish a clear communication channel.
  • Allow for failure.
  • Be patient.
  • Deliver (and ask for) feedback.
  • Give credit where it’s due.

Lastly, I would like to share the most challenging yet crucial rule. Delegated the task? Step aside and do not interfere until asked. Otherwise, it won’t make any sense.
