What do you do receiving a small task? We mean something simple that won’t take more than 5 minutes to complete.
Most of us don’t like to interrupt the current task as it takes some time to return to it after a pause. And if the new task is small, you’ll manage to complete it at any time. And thinking this way, you are totally right. But there is one problem with sort of such tasks. They have a tendency to accumulate. And then it takes a lot of time to remember, control, and execute everything. They occupy your memory and distract your attention. That’s why there is a 5 minutes rule. It tells us that everything that takes less should be done immediately.
Sure, if there are too many small tasks trying to catch your attention throughout the day, you won’t be able to complete your main work. In this situation, it is better to have some sort of planner to collect them and a determined time in your working schedule for conducting them all.
And what is your way of solving this problem?
