Have you ever tried explaining something to your children when they are angry? Do they hear you?
Try asking one secret question instead: “How angry are you now?”
Use a scale from one to 10 or colours from blue to red, or any other way to measure that you both will understand.
This question switches the child’s attention and lets you move on to the next step. Offer a way to calm down, like jumping or breathing together. And now you have a chance to start explaining)
Are you ready to try?
