Simple Tips To Stop Touching Your Face

April 1, 2020BlogRostyslav Shemechko

We are all aware of the fact that our face is the main gate for a virus to come in. But it’s not so easy to stop touching it. Why?

The basic reason is that we are doing it unknowingly like giving flirting signals or correcting hairstyle. In both cases, we occasionally touch not only our hair but also our face.

One more reason lies deeper. Touching the face helps to stabilize our emotions. Do you remember yourself putting your hand on the forehead, touching your chin or scratching your head while you are thinking, trying to concentrate or switch your attention? It’s just a part of your cognitive process.

So, you don’t have to blame yourself for such a habit, as it is a common thing. But you can follow a few simple rules to prevent it:
📍 wear a mask – it either won’t let you touch the skin or will make touching your face more conscious,
📍 use the sunglasses to prevent rubbing your eyes,
📍 ask your relatives to remind you not to touch your face each time you are trying to do it or just make a sign that you are doing it. Everything that you are frequently paying attention to becomes important to your mind and as a result, you will be aware of this habit and will be able to control it.

And one more trick that is helpful. Put a rubber band on your hand. And use it to hit your hand lightly each time you realized you are touching your face. This strategy works based on the rule – our brain will prevent us from doing whatever is associated with pain. So, you will stop doing it unknowingly.
