The Depression Paradox

Why Trying to NOT Be Depressed Keeps You Depressed 🌊
Here’s something that surprises many of my clients:
The harder you fight against depression, the stronger its grip becomes.
When you constantly tell yourself “I shouldn’t feel this way” or “I need to snap out of this,” you’re adding a second layer of suffering – frustration, shame, and exhaustion from the battle itself.
This is called experiential avoidance. It’s like trying to hold a beach ball underwater. The more you push it down, the more forcefully it pops back up.
Do you know what the alternative is?
Stop fighting. Start moving forward with your pain, not against it.
  •  Acknowledge what you’re feeling without judgment.
  •  Take meaningful action aligned with your values.
  •  Allow discomfort to exist while you live your life.
You don’t have to conquer depression before you start living again. Sometimes, healing begins when we stop the battle.
